An Amici prism allows comfortable viewing and produces an upright and laterally true image. This makes it particularly suitable for nature observations, but it also makes it easier for beginners to find their way around the sky during astronomical observations, as it is easier to compare the eyepiece view with the unobstructed view of the sky.
The Amici prism is suitable for refractors and Maksutov optics. The Amici turns this astronomical telescope into a spotting scope for terrestrial observation or for laterally true and accurate observation of the Moon.
